The International Association for Literary Journalism Studies (IALJS) was founded on July 14, 2006, following the First International Conference on Literary Journalism in Nancy, France.

Conference Updates

The Eighteenth International Conference for Literary Journalism Studies (IALJS-18), “Literary Journalism and the wond’rous glory of the everlasting stars,” was held May 27-30, 2024, at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia.

Conference Payments

All payments made to IALJS, whether for annual membership dues or conference fees, can now be made online. Members receive all IALJS announcements, the IALJS Newsletter, and the IALJS journal, Literary Journalism Studies.

Journal

Literary Journalism Studies, a peer-reviewed journal, is international in scope and seeks submissions on the theory, history, and pedagogy of literary journalism throughout the world. All disciplinary approaches are welcome.

Newsletter

An archive of every issue, past and present, of the IALJS newsletter, a quarterly publication distributed to members around the world. Plus: commendable examples of literary journalism, some of which may be mentioned in the issues.

The International Association for Literary Journalism Studies is governed by a nine-member board of advisors and a 16-member executive committee, representing numerous colleges and universities around the globe.

Mission Statement

The mission of the International Association for Literary Journalism Studies is the improvement of scholarly research and education in Literary Journalism/Reportage—not journalism about literature but journalism that is literature.

Constitution & Bylaws

In accordance with the scholarly, teaching, and professional interests of its founding members, a new international learned society dedicated to the study of Literary Journalism is hereby created.

Past Conferences

The annual meeting of IALJS is a conference devoted to the scholarly study, teaching, and practice of literary journalism. In addition, IALJS actively participates in the conferences of a number of other learned societies.
